In the center
of Chianti Classico

Where it all began and where it all still happens

Isole e Olena is located midway between Florence and Siena, in San Donato in Poggio, the heart of Chianti Classico. Isole is the center of production – home to the aging cellars, tasting rooms, and the marvelous terrace that looks out over the Val d’Elsa. Olena, meanwhile, is a magical place that feels suspended in time, where architectural charm and history coexist thanks to a conservative approach to upkeep.

A unique landscape

The two villages of Isole e Olena are surrounded by 56 hectares of vineyards that range from 300-500 meters above sea level. The area is also dotted with woodlands typical of the Chianti Classico region. This area of western Tuscany and its rolling hills enjoys a milder climate than other areas, thanks to sea breezes in the summer that keep the vines cool and healthy. The soil is rich in clay schist, limestone, and sandstone. Alongside the intense research and work we do in the vineyards, our philosophy of commitment to preserving a balance in nature extends elsewhere: the woods and meadows that surround the vineyards are part of a special ecosystem that has a positive impact on the vines… and consequently also our wines.

From niche product to acclaimed wine

Not only is Isole e Olena located at the heart of Chianti Classico geographically, but we have been a point of reference for the area on a historical level for many, many years. Our bold choices and our constant search for perfection have long inspired others. Today, Isole and Olena is considered one of the most important Italian labels precisely because of its prominent role in affecting change in winemaking methods in Tuscany and across Italy. Isole e Olena’s Cepparello, Chianti Classico, and Chardonnay are emblematic wines, embodying all the best aspects of the region while striking a balance between natural and complex.
